Kivalliq Trade Show: Where Business is Tradition

Join us for the Kivalliq Trade Show from November 23–25, 2010 hosted by the community of Rankin Inlet, Nunavut.

The Kivalliq Trade Show brings together Kivalliq business partners from Arviat, Baker Lake, Chesterfield Inlet, Coral Harbour, Repulse Bay, Whale Cove, and Rankin Inlet, as well as businesses and organizations from across Nunavut and elsewhere.

This inaugural event showcases the Kivalliq region as a vibrant, vital, and versatile business community. The event is highlighted by a one-day trade show, seminars for the business and local community, and evening social events. All activities provide opportunities for professionals to exchange essential information affecting businesses, industry, governments, Inuit organizations, and exploration and mining companies.

The Rankin Inlet Co-ed Softball League began last night. Although the fog was thick and a mist was coming down it did not slow anyone down. “M & T” won “The Eskimos” and “Inukshuk Cons” defeated “Arctic Heating”. Play resumes the rest of the week and the schedule can be found under the Recreation departments site on the Hamlet website. Come out and cheer on your team.

Held by the Rankin Inlet Volunteer Fire Department

12pm    BBQ Hot Dogs and Juice (in front of the Hamlet Office)

12:30pm    Games outside the Hamlet

1pm    Kids Bike Race starting at the Hamlet Office

2pm    Cardboard Boat Race (Lake behind the snow fence)
Must be built by only cardboard and tape

2pm    Soccer Tournament (soccer field)

3pm    Target Shooting (shooting range)

4pm    Styrofoam Boat Race (Williamson Lake)
Maximum of 3ft in length

7pm    Performers @ the community hall

9pm    Square Dance

The word on the street is that the Char are running!!! If you want a nice feed of fresh Arctic Char get out to the Diane  or Meladine River.
